Quote: Can you elaborate on this?

We still get the sacred four days off.

Most guys complaining about QOL seems be be talking about reserve rules specifically.

All this sounds good to me:

long call reserve option
Can still drop reserve days until pbs, and even after can still drop with Mandatory float
First out/last out reserve preferences
Reserves can get overtime if they want it

What is so bad besides not being able to drop a single day in the middle?

A little secret... most of the reserve trips they cobble together now are short duration one or two day trips with deadheads. The guys with 1 or 2 days of availability are the ones that get nailed with the trips. If you have 4-6 days available, they will hardly use you!

The biggest thing for me is not being able to drop ANY reserve day once PBS is implemented. You are stuck with your schedule. Mandatory float can only be used once every rolling 12 months, so to me that is not a good solution. Long call reserve is good, although there is only a minimum of 2 LCR lines per base. Reserve usage preference is great.

Don't sell yourself short with this POS TA.
Difference now is, when I'm done, I leave. I don't have to sit "ready reserve" for the company.
Everyone here deserves better. Voting yes, caves into the company's cost neutral TA, and ruins it for others who follow(ie. JetBlue).

Sub-industry standard wages.
No RSV drops
All the rescheduling language is beneficial to the company. They hold the keys now to the car. You think they care about you or your kid's birthday? Yah ok... Buddies had this happen at Shuttle America. Lost the keys to the car to the company, all for higher pay. After the TA passed, they had more money, no QOL, and were left scratching their heads saying "what the hell happened?"

No transition BEFORE PBS is even implemented
Long stay hotel only at 18+ hours? Have fun sitting at the La Quinta New Orleans for 17 1/2 hours. Or LAX airport for 17 1/2 hours. Fun times, reminds me of Mesaba days....Say goodbye to Hilton or Marriotts, as the company is now able to save 30-50% on hotels, and get us those cheap places (HoJo, La Quinta, Red Roof Inn).
The TA language spells out criteria on hotel selection.

Now they only get you a DH on Spirit home from a trip. Since we only fly 1 or 2 times a day to places, you are stuck sitting in FLL from 11am until 845pm at night to get back to O'Hare on a positive Space DH on the last leg of a trip.

No Thanks.
I value my time with friends/family, away from this clown show....
Hotels...how many times have guys been complaining about long van rides to long stay hotels when it is not really that long of a stay. Cant win! Im not worried about a red roof inn, hojo, la quinta.. you are exagerating to manipulate the votes.

You want to talk about deaheads? How about the fact you will be able to get an alternate dead head and if it doesnt work out, the company still buys you a hotel for the night. HUGE! Also we get assigned exit row or big seat if available on long flights 3+

Where did you see about deadheading only on spirit? I missed that. Seems no different than now, if true. As long as the duty period fits they will deadhead you around the country to stay on spirit. Nobody does that anyways, we all go on our own and now we get protected with a hotel and still get a hotel day room if the sit is too long.

Useful information that is not intended to be misleading - thank you!

On the flip side, if reserves cant drop days except float, more green days out there and lineholders will have more flexibility to drop days.

Not exactly right. Right now when you are done with your reserve assignment, you have to call scheduling to see if they have anything else for you. How many times have they used that?

No, you don't. They can't assign you extra flying at the end of you trip. The purpose of calling to get released is to notify you of a trip the next day. If you're R11 and you don't call they can't call you until 1100 with a ready to go show of 1400. If you call the day prior they can notify you of a trip that shows at 1100. There is a huge difference.

Incorrect. From our current contract...

A reserve pilot may only be called to the airport for a specific trip
assignment; except, if a reserve has completed an assignment and
still has duty time available or has reported for a trip that cancels, he may be required to wait at the airport for a further assignment for no
more than one hour.

And they can make you wait an hour while the figure it all out for no extra pay.
