Thank you very much for your reply (and to everyone else as well). This is exactly the feedback I wanted to hear and it seems manageable. I may also relocate to LAS in the future but need to maintain my home in SoCal for now as the wife’s income is making this feasible.

Thanks again to everyone for all the thoughtful replies. It’s much appreciated.

As a former 91/91k/135 guy I think you're making the right choice by trying to go 121. Our LAS crews are some great guys and gals. Good luck and I hope to see you on the seniority list soon.

LAX to LAS is an easy commute with many options per day. You’ll enjoy a great quality of life within 6 months.

LAX to LAS also gives the added benefit of some scenery, especially Fridays to Vegas. :D

Yeah... They made a TV show about it

I'm a senior Momma but I know some on reserve are working 4-5 days a month on reserve. That's a lot of extra time to sit at home and work on projects.

I know someone mentioned this earlier, but the FO grid in LAS is always blood red after IOT. Can be very challenging to drop outright, should one need to. How is the grid in DFW and other bases once DOT opens and throughout the month?

I’m not sure what base that is, it seems like I always get a 3am wake up call my first day of reserve.

That only happened to me with a ferry flight. I checked Flica the day before and could self notify for my assignment probably 95% of the time.

And on top of that I could usually tell you what the trip assignment would be 5 days out just based on what was sitting in the open time pot on my first day.

Is there a trip with a 6am launch on day one with a red eye or late arrival on day last sitting in the open time pot on your first day of R3? Probably yours.

Also, there was usually 2-3 days a month where I was paid to sit at home as I was unusable at the end of my RAP for the available trips. Honestly, given all that, the only thing I didn’t like was the unexpected ferry flight call, and I usually credited over 80 hours each month kn reserve. YMMV.
