I don’t want to dilute our flying with a second type. Our seniority list will grow but the number bidding below you on your type will not grow at the same pace.

Longer range on the 330 means more likely schedules that mirror legacy heavy schedules where a pilot will fly fewer times a month, more off time.
A 220 would not bring a pay raise. Shorter stage lengths, smaller communities most likely. So I don’t care how nice a plane it is, an order of 200 is not helping us like an order of 200 A320s would or 200 A330s would But for the price of 1 330 we could order 4 220's. I'd rather grow and reach more destinations than get killed by the big 3 trying to operate something that is their bread and butter. Look at B6, they have been talking that nonsense about going to Europe but nothing's come of it because its a huge gamble. And on the subject of B6, if we start getting the same airframes as they have its ripe for a merger even though they are looking for someone to buy them. |
Watch the investor slides. Less than a year ago, spirit was talking about having hundreds of potentially profitable routes that they couldn't immediately take advantage of because they couldn't grow that fast. No need for a new aircraft type to cash in on those routes that are already identified. What does the investor presentation say now? The clues you need are likely in there. Don't forget, the last investor presentation before the current contract was signed was the one where mgt finally admitted that growth was on hold until the contract was settled (the one before that, they blamed it on the NEO engine problems). Lots of good info in the investor relations page on the website, if you're trying to guess what's gonna happen.

You have to understand taking a delivery position. They have so many escape clauses it's not funny. Their are Companies that do nothing more than block positions and sell them at a premium, if they can't they back out. Ted point blank told me getting a new Airbus isn't an issue. They want them at a discount. Boeing is offering that discount. But they want a complete fleet switch over. So to answer your question, yes the order is for new Aircraft.

A complete fleet switch for any LCC or ULCC would not be easy. The biggest example that I can think of was EasyJet. After a quick google search they had around 88 737s before switching to an all Airbus fleet so not impossible? But boy that would be a pain.

Whom said anything about a fleet switch? I'd give you 3 to 1 we stay with Airbus. They'll never flip the fleet. Boeing is just trying anything to sell aircraft.
