You were considered, just not hired.

Maybe go to a regional, get some more time and try next year?

No internals. All my professional flying time is multi turbine. Currently flying at a 121 carrier with multiple jet type ratings.

And no, I won’t be taking a 50k+ pay cut to go to a regional to “get some more time”. Spirit seems like a great place to hang your hat, and I’ll certainly try again a year from now. But if flying for a regional is a prerequisite, I guess I’m out of the running.

It’s always hard to tell with these things. Whether it’s a personality thing, a question of experience, an error on an application, or just not what they’re looking for in an applicant. Just the way it goes, I suppose.

You have very little jet time, but are flying at a 121 carrier and have multiple jet type ratings?

Maybe there's your problem?

You're at Empire or Silver? I think those are the only places where you can have the experience you have?

My airline added a new fleet and a bunch of us bid over to the new aircraft. I was on the previous aircraft for about a year before bidding to my current airplane. Same airline. No training failures. Flew the previous bird for about 300 hours before I moved to the new jet.

Has anyone else heard back?

Atlanta Meet the Chiefs

I was at the Atlanta Meet the Chiefs. About 5kTT. Mostly Jet PIC/SIC. Mostly corporate experience with some 121 and an A-320 type. Excellent presentation put on by Spirit. Haven’t heard anything yet.

Sounds like piedmont or horizon. Why are you hiding where you work? The guys here are trying to give you positive suggestions, not belittle your experience.

Nah, I’m a 767 cargo guy. Most of my time is in a Beech 1900 flying cargo and pax. Just started my 121 gig about a year and a half ago. I’d bet that a lack of jet time probably didn’t help, but I had hoped that international experience and some TPIC would make me competitive. I have the luxury of already being at a decent paying job. It just isn’t where I want to spend my career.

I don’t think it was the jet time. You sounds pretty competitive to me. Maybe you just rubbed someone the wrong way it was and didn’t realize it (it happens). If you really want the job I would say try to get an internal recommendation and if you don’t know anyone at Spirit try jumpseating a few times on us and strike up a conversation. Then try again. Or maybe add something interesting on your resume that makes you stand out (in a good way)
