PBS Sucks!!

Wish we traded "min 5 days off, (reducible to 4, with no penalty, so really 4)" for a decent average days off (at least 15/15.5 for 30/31 day month) for every line, as opposed to being able to waive min days off in between trips, just to get a weekly schedule.

Having said that, SWA has line bidding with 17/17.5 days off average for ALL hard lines.

I agree. So many people hang on to the 4 days off they ignore the fact that if we had a higher number of min days off it would be better.

This would require productive pairing construction, and productive pairing construction is a result of a true min day. I'm guessing LAS is still going to see plenty of 15 hour 4-days, 10 hour 3-days, etc.

PBS will never run the awards at the speed of line bidding. It has to run several hundred solutions to get the optimal one and each run has orders of magnitude more computations than a hard line bid run. Just cross your fingers that it actually works. There are a lot more things that can go wrong server-and-computation-side with PBS. If our first live PBS is successful I think that's a pretty hefty accomplishment for our vendor in and of itself.

So how are we liking PBS sofar?
I am reasonably happy, had VAC on week 3, needed week 4 off to, got a 3 and a 4 day on the days I wanted to work in week 1 and 2, with 82hr credit (44 from my bank by paying for 2 inviolate days). NONE of the lines in FliCa were even close to getting this.
Trips are a no soft pay, short layover, high block.
