Just narrowly missed the hotel collapse a few weeks ago

Sorry, but what has local time to do with it? Most of my trips I can't stay out till 3am, because I don't get to the hotel till 6am. Last trip I landed at 3am, there was a 24hr bar next door, so I had breakfast with a few drinks till 5am. Slept till 3pm, went for a 7mile run, had lunner, and went back to work at 10pm. Hopefully you don't think there's anything wrong with that.

“US”.?.? So you decide your FO would rather stay in an airport hotel than in his contractual downtown location?

He’s the one that complains that the downtown hotel only has expensive food options and writes the hotel committee to put us in a Hampton by the airport for the free powdered egg breakfast and the Applebee’s down the street.
