Default Charitable contributions

I see lots of activity on the W-2 thread.

How about charitable contributions? Please don’t share amounts just charities you enjoy giving too? Does anyone know of any that Spirit will match? If so how do we do it with our terrible IT?

I don’t see any reason why our company can’t match charities like Orbis or wings of hope?

Good on you. I know a lot of folks have stopped giving because it’s very hard to itemize now with the standard deduction going up and us losing our per diem expenses. That is unless you own your own business or are paying interest on a multi million dollar house.

Muscular Dystrophy Association and the Make A Wish Foundation are two very worthy causes. Several types of MDA are fatal so both will serve the same child unfortunately.

Only thing I could find on the website was the “better spirit fund”. Which pays to spirit employees who can’t work. Never heard of anyone using it so I stopped giving years ago.

Just read an email from our CEO mentioning “The Spirit Airlines Charitable Foundation”. I couldn’t find that anywhere on the internet...

Angel flight another good charity to donate money and or time if you have access to a small airplane.

Definitely good to do pre-research on any charity you are considering. Some put your money more effectively to where it's needed than others.

Some are more worthwhile than others.

A Google search for effective altruism can start you on the right track if you're interested.
