So some of us are on reserve indefinitely and not flying much. I am really getting bored not flying. Does anyone have a side hustle to make some money? I have heard some trade stocks but that takes a lot of capital to start, or maybe not? Any other hobbies to make some extra cash?

You need at least 25k in your account to effectively day trade without the PDT rule. Trading specific stocks involves homework and research, but an easier way I found is to day trade ETFs since they largely track the market trends. For instance if the market is trending green for the day I'll buy SPY, and for the red days I usually buy TVIX since it largely tracks the inverse of the S&P 500.

I think they’ll honor the pool as long as hiring resumes before mid-year 2021. As far as staffing goes, even when the vaccine becomes available and the population feels 100% safe, we’ll still be in the middle of a recession. The whole industry will have to shrink between 15-30% initially. Although NK can definitely take advantage of that (and we will), it’s hard to tell how much bigger our bite will be. There might not be furloughs in October if the vaccine is around the corner and the company feels we’ll hit the ground running in 202. If that’s the case, we can wing this by a combination of VILs, LOAs and voluntary furloughs. Now, if the company is looking at a bleak first half of 2021, management will take “aggressive steps into preserving cash”.

Wow, lots of sensitive folks here... I have no problem with senior or anybody grabbing X/Y or OT trips.. you all missed the point. Fact is, a lot of folks can’t afford an early retirement.. which is sad because this industry has kicked and continues to kick many of our butts every 10 years. Yeah, I’ve been furloughed multiple times. I’m also in the crowd that says absolutely no concessions either... flame away!

A vaccine is not going to matter. After the Covid vaccine is developed not enough people are going to take the vaccine to create the herd immunity to prevent another Covid outbreak.

The infection rate is going to keep going up here because Americans just don’t care enough.

Is it possible to have a 101% infection rate? 2 rona's, 1 cup?

You must be kidding right? Under that logic passenger numbers would remain the same and not down 80% (at least domestically). Not all Americans care, but a large majority do. The ones that do will get vaccinated and will fly again (as long as their personal finances allow it). The ones that don’t care... they’ll fly anyways. The vaccine protects you, not the herd.
