Fact!

Correct me if im wrong, but I remember hearing at a road show that the company did NOT push for the 18 hour this last contract, it was the union that presented it, as a way to appease the crowd who always complains about the 2 hotels we have with longer drives; LAX and IAH. So we threw the baby out with the bath water...and they brought in 18 hours.

I asked a hotel committee member after this passed why we allowed 18 and they too confirmed it wasn't the company wanting this, it was from certain people on the hotel committee (based on feedback) and some negotiating members who too did not like long drives. This member told me he hates that we went to 18 and now will be forced to negotiate it back next round to a "catch weight" time between the old 15 and new 18.

Seriously though, take the hotel survey. Then you can at least say that you voiced your concerns ahead of time when you call out fatigued for dealing with all of these shenanigans.

“ok sir, don’t worry. We will have a go bag for you with an apple, sugar concentrate juice, and a muffin that can withstand a nuclear apocalypse”.

Personally speaking warm milk and a bagel that moonlights as a jack stand is my favorite.

I got my W-2 today and it’s not even the last day of January and I’m so mad everything worked out like it’s supposed to I think I’ll start a new thread to gripe about hotels or something.

IAH short is hilarious. I can see the short hotel from where we park the airplane yet it takes longer to go the half mile down JFK blvd than it does to get to the long stay hotel in 5 o clock traffic.

Location doesn’t have to dictate the type of transportation provided or the type of hotel but we have let it.

As far as I’m concerned all overnights should be premium hotels with a car service as transportation. Short layover should be near the airport and long in a metropolitan area within a 30min drive. They can take their free breakfast and shove it. Grab and go should be replaced with $15 cash from the hotel front desk for early departures.

A 30 min drive is often not enough to get to a metro area, unless you like Rosemont.

Don’t mind Qotsa, he thinks geographical boundaries should be redrawn and airports moved in order to satisfy his hotel requirements.
