When I first went through 121 training we had to know both seats. During training we had to do it from a cold dark plane. When the actual check ride came around it was on ground power not first flight of the day. I was just sitting there like uh need me to do anything haha. I’ll go get us the coffees.

This is correct and that can be done from either seat .

You're conflating the argument of whether it’s an actual type rating with whether it exists, which it does.
