The age factor of AA WO flows...
Does anyone have the data that shows how the ages of flows compare to AA retirements? The age of the average flow up to this point has to be fairly high so it appears AAs retirement curve will stay higher than projected in the numbers that are published. I would just guess that at least 30-40ish percent of flows will retire before 2030 that are already at mainline.
I’d be interested in hearing others opinions about this. Does this data exist? From a business prospective this is interesting.

Most of them really aren't that old. Mid-30's. At the time they were hiring, Eagle was hiring really young guys with no experience.

The guys that are flowing right this minute are 34+, more or less. The lot before were older. If you look at the seniority list, flows for the next year are likely in their mid-30's as well. Now, I can't vouch for what PSA or PDT are flowing, but Eagle flows trend older.

The pilots flowing from the WOs up until about early 2018 seemed to be from an older demographic. 40+. Now it seems that 30+ is the new norm. With some older and some younger.
Recent Group 2 narrow-body Captain sits around 3.5 years as of the latest award at AA. I would expect time to narrow body Captain to settle around 4-5 years. With time to widebody FO closer to 4. And I would expect this to continue for anyone hired into the mid 2020s.
The retirements at AA are staggering. They will turnover about 75% of their current seniority list by about 2031. And as contracts and pay improve I would expect early retirements to increase above their current levels as well. It’s a good time to be an airline pilot.

Junior group 2 captain at AA is a 2014 hire.
