I dont keep up with Americans dealings. Whats the cliffnotes?
Management informed APA a few minutes ago that it unilaterally decided not to award any paid Voluntary Short Term Leaves of Absence (VSTLOA) or unpaid Voluntary Extended Leaves of Absence (VELOA) for any 737 or 320 bid status for the month of April. Management intends to award wide-body and the E-190 bid statuses for April with a new effective date of April 6, 2020, but has still not finalized those awards. This incomprehensible April Fool’s joke leaves us at a loss for words. We are meeting with management and will continue to provide updates. |
Again maybe I need some clarity on the issue. To me the more pilots getting full pay the better.

The gnashing of teeth is about the AA pilots forgoing grieving AAL messing with their April bid schedule in return for VLOA. AAL just yankee the VLOA and now the pilots can’t even grieve the bidding violations.

VSTLOA was all screwed up, much smaller numbers then original discussed. Mainly the f*ck up was with the 737 and 320 bids. Supposedly May VSTLO vacancy will make up for the shortfall.. 600 additional for 737 & 320. As of April 1st pilots awarded.. VPLOA - 620 VSTLO- 1470 (1167 awarded 6 month) |
