I don't wear a mask in the cockpit and I wouldn't expect a jumpseater to wear one either. Any jumpseaters will just be rolling the dice on what crew they get. If you think a mask will save you, you should stay home a little longer.

I don't like wearing the mask either. Where I live in the People's Democratic Republic of California, they won't let you into pretty much any store without one. Pizza shops, department stores, grocery shops, my gun shop and gun range: no mask, no entry.

Our airline policy is masks are required anywhere outside of the flight deck. Terminals? Mask required. Stepping out midflight to use the lavatory? Mask required. You can take it off only in the flight deck. I don't like the mask, it kinda gives a suffocate type feeling. But the wife and kids are already on the Spirit flight with paid tickets. If wearing a mask is the price I pay for a free ride with them on the same plane, so be it.

Our company provided us with masks, and I must say, they are more comfortable than the homemade ones that I have been wearing. I do have to thank you for supplying our company with moolah.... and I hope your family’s experience is bueno and your jumpseat experience is bueno as well....

No problem. Though we kinda don't have a choice if we want nonstop. LAX-PIT the only nonstop is Spirit, and ya'll goin to 2x daily. And LAX-DTW nonstop competition with Delta and they are usually 3-4x as much as Spirit.


I got Corona fares for tomorrow's flight. $40 one way LAX-DTW. :D For that price I should have just bought myself a ticket too but pilots are cheap besterds. :D

Agreed. Was in the cockpit on DL for two flights this month and I asked if they wanted me to wear a mask. They told me I didn’t need to. I just ask and wouldn’t have a problem if they wanted me to. I’m a guest after all.

Jumpseat listing gets one free checked bag, one free carry on. I pay for seats for the wife and 2 kids, and 1 bag for them. $120 total tickets plus bag/seats made grand total $187.


Flight was full, looked to be about maybe 10 open with no shows. I got 4C.

Just pulled 2 planes out of storage from Willow Run, 4 left. Haven't flown since March but it was like riding a bike, except the flight to DTW was 8 minutes long.

Did LAS-DEN-LAS yesterday. Both flights were full!

Just did 2 legs, 90-95% full and 50+ checked bags on each

The concern isn't this month or next, it's the future bookings after July. Unfortunately, as of today, the bookings are not there and our executives are getting concerned.

I don't follow. Just looked at random flights in the middle of August. Loads look pretty solid. I was pleasantly surprised.

I was wondering if anyone else read that. Scenario 3 of “right size ship” may not happen, is the way I read it. Check your base Whstsapp I’m sure someone has a copy of it.

All one has to do is look at the current political environment, the drive by news media and see what is going on to predict future loads. The story is a resurgence of COVID-19, Florida and Texas pulling back and NY/NJ requiring a mandatory quarantine. Maximum political pressure, never let a good crisis go to waste.
Delta is pretty much saying expect furloughs, United May go bankrupt, American, who knows. The airlines are asking for another huge bailout. I hope I’m wrong for the many young folks we have, but having been through this before, I’d be planning for the worse and hoping for the best.
My word of advice if anyone cares, it’s temporary. Things will get better, it’s a cyclical industry. Fix your finances, Refinance or downsize, keep your car longer, get rid of cable, change your cellphone plan, eat in more, find free things to do. Live like a regional pilot again. Many of us have survived this before, those affected by this will also.

We all have the ability to view future loads. Posting them on here would be unethical. With 80% off fare deals, our planes better be full. I would think 80% off fares isn't about making money so much as slowing losses. Let's just hope the majority one week to two week out bookings mgmt keeps referencing continues into July and August.

With the record setting pace of new cases the last few days, I would count on this being over by a long shot

F9 got the same kind of memo. Bookings in Aug and beyond aren’t looking hot. The news headlines and the northeast quarantining people are not helping anything

Based in our last town hall. It’s hard to predict what the end of July and beyond will look like, since our booking is usually 1-2 weeks out.

Most are late winter into next year flights. There is a little uptick in August but overall I this both NK and F9 are in the same boat

A few out LAS on the 4th but nothing else. Out of FLL is 4-5 of our international up until the middle of the month, the end of month is only 1-2 cities that's canceled. Maybe they are planing on the border opening by then? . Those are the only 2 bases i pulled up. You can actually look in Crew Trac and see which flights are canceled for which date.

FWIW, I had a San Pedro Sula turn pulled off my July Sched already.

Thanks. I wonder if the border was/is still closed. I think I heard we added more flights Intl, but a lot were dependent on the borders opening as advertised. I know a lot seem to keep extending the closure as it gets close to the opening date.

I wouldn't hold my breath. I should expect to see more countries disallowing US travelers entering their countries. Let's give a round of applause for our population on doing so well with protecting each other from the Wuhan flu.

Yeah, most of them are on the verge of reopening, but I wouldn't blame them if they stay closed to US citizens.
