My guess is you’d probably get fenced into 320 CA for long enough to hold a captain slot on both fleets. If we had some or all 737s then yeah your scenario would probably play.
The system seniority would suck though no matter what which can affect qol of everything but don’t think a downgrade would be a certainty. This would be in a no furlough merger scenario. Throw in the Covid furloughs and it’s anyone’s guess at what a blood bath a merger would be with an unlike carrier.

What I’m saying is... AW did not “save” USAirways. Without the mergers both companies would have went out of business. Reason USAirways guys are bitter is because of the seniority integration.. or lack of one.

My original comment was in response to someone saying “Just look how bitter US Air guys were when America West saved them......”
You really should read about the merger. America West did not buy USAirways, USAirways did not buy America West.
Again.. how much did AW buy USAirways?

Ok- now I’m sure I don’t get your point... what is it, exactly- especially with regard to “reverse takeover?” The USAirways guys were HORRENDOUSLY bitter...
After Nicolau.

You’ll figure it out one day. Bitter over seniority not the merger. Doesnt matter.. both groups came out smelling like roses after the AA merger.. especially the AW guys.
