Considering the last chairmans update no ********n way are we only giving first year guys a raise! It'll be a raise for all or a raise for none. There is a reason for the update, it's not a preemptive move.

Ask the union if you have any questions.

First year pay raise aside, full medical and 72 hour min guarantee in training. Now. I don’t think anyone at NK would argue another new hire class deserves less, regardless of dues they have paid.

If Spirit were to stand alone, I would submit that it’s not first year pay that makes candidates balk, but the 40% gap the next 3-5 years and beyond. The 2-3 year upgrades are gone forever (unless some base/schedule anomaly develops like Delta 717 JFK). A new hire today is looking at 5-7 year upgrades, and would have to average 100 credit to still fall short of other narrowbody pilots making guarantee.

B6 still has a very similar attrition issue to NK even with the first year rate I would like to see for our pilots.

Our goal should be a scale that makes a decade plus at NK or B6+NK to being a line holding captain lucrative enough that a trickle of those who leave seeking widebody double breasted glory is merely a rounding error.

Love how people are still arguing over first year pay. As long as the pay scales every other year lag, it’s going to be a revolving door as long as the legacies are still hiring.

Also factoring in our reserve rules, which understandably a lot of pilots aren't crazy about, and anyone hired today could be looking at a significant chunk of their career in the right seat until able to upgrade while bypassing CA reserve. The days of zero to hero line holding CA in four years are far, far behind us.

Not saying it would have changed my mind, especially with the uncertainty of the merger. But the first year pay at Spirit made the decision for me really easy to leave when given the opportunity. I mean it wasn't even a debate. That combined with the uncertainty of the merger and the skyrocketing reserve and upgrade times it was a no brainer.

Seems everyone you talk to now days has a class date somewhere… crazy times. Word from TC “they are free to leave”. Management has checked out, they don’t care anymore. We can’t even get ice and water let alone keep pilots.

Best of luck to all!

Edited for perspective. I'm a junior-ish CA and trust me, ain't many senior to me moving on or else I would be making some crazy seniority gains.

I wouldn’t agree with that. Last month alone 3 captains I know left. I know of a few more leaving as well. Just spoke to one who starts class at delta next week. It takes a month or so for the the list to update.

A handful of CAs out of 1500 or so really isn't a lot though. Now if 30-40 checked out, then yeah I'd definitely agree that "seems like everyone has a class date somewhere these days..."

I moved up a whole 3 numbers this month according to FLICA, no idea if it is retirements or people leaving but the attrition is definitely nothing more than a slow trickle for those with 5+ years seniority.

A lot of pilots senior to you have applied, have interviews, or have class dates elsewhere. The prospect of working for Frontier was the last straw for a lot of us. With the potential of B6 acquiring us instead, everyone that I know has put their plans on hold awaiting the outcome. AA has been very gracious in allowing those with class dates to extend them into the future while the chips fall. I don't think there's been a shift in opinion in working for F9 but rather a 'wait and see' optimism that B6 could win this thing.
