Getting showered and ready to go everyday with a uniform and 6 days of clothes packed isn’t that stressful. Treat it like you’re working everyday and don’t make plans and appointments and it’s much lower stress than constantly trying to swap and drop and plan commutes to some random base.

So he has been a CA for 4 years and still reserve? Even that number doesn’t work. Junior CA in DFW with a line has been at Spirit for 6 years 3 months. So did he upgrade in 2 years and still on reserve? Maybe he is rounding up. Doesnt matter, he didn't mention CA or FO so I assumed it was FO. I stand corrected if he is a CA
One thing about taking first available upgrade vs waiting means you will be leapfrogged by senior guys when they they are ready to upgrade. Ask the DAL guys about the reserve life in NY for those who took first available. |

why wouldn’t you just commute to a base you can hold a line with instead of sitting reserve?!? Glutton for punishment….

What doesn’t add up? I said springtime will be 4 years on reserve for me. Upgrade in May 18..Fll for 3 months, then Vegas for 20 months, and Dfw for 2 years in January. Close to holding a line, don’t really care to though at the moment considering how little I work.

You’re correct, you said springtime. Stand corrected
I was in Vegas for 16 not 20 months, misspoke there. |

Dallas is it’s own little world with the lack of growth and movement as I’m sure you know. It’s equaled very little flying though for me in the covid era. Mco slowed everything down too when I was trying to get back as most the new vacancies were almost solely Florida.

Sadly I think more stagnation is in the future once they open up a new base(s) next year. Good for the network, bad for base movement.
if spirit really opens a Houston, New Orleans, Austin (you heard it first here) or Atlanta base that could actually help DFW and get some guys out of Dallas so there can be movement. unfortunately I see the company adding EWR or BWI. let’s just see what Santa Claus (TC) and his elves (Bendo) have in store for us when the announcement comes from the North Pole. Resignations are on the rise!
I fear our growth plans (fleet of 293ish by ‘27) are a bit optimistic if they can’t stymie the attrition. Our Year 12 rates are on pair with the legacies, but they’re going to have to ‘bring up the middle’ to keep people. |
