I am in a sort of similar situation. I have emailed 2 chief pilots and they are hard on the unrestricted ATP requirement. I have 2100 TT with 800 Turbine PIC with an age restriction as well...

Hi I was looking into possibly doing a MTC soon. If I got an invite to it, does that mean i'm competitive? I have like 2300TT with 1100 Multi and 115 turbine SIC (121) with a full ATP. Also don't think this will probably happen but do they positive space you to/from it?

I'm going to my second one next month - did my previous one 6 months back with less than 100 turbine and was told TBNT. They do not positive space you to or from. If you get an invite to one and you are considering Spirit I would say go - the worst they can say is no. I went in last time thinking I had a 1% shot or less and still went. Now I think I'm more in line with what they want.

Thanks good to know. And just for the record what do you think they want now that you're a bit more confident about your qualifications? I was looking at buying a ticket to get there but it's pretty pricey so i'm thinking i'll prob just jumpseat instead.

I have no idea what they want, sounds like some people are getting in with a few hours some not. The biggest thing is they gotta believe you want to be there. If you have a clean record I wouldn’t be surprised if you got an interview at least. I’m just going to jumpseat in the day before and spend the night at the hotel.

Ok sounds good. Good luck. I've heard great things about spirit but now i'm just wondering how to answer a "why spirit" question when there can be two very different paths if they're going with jetblue or frontier now.

Answer the question as if that isn't happening. Talk about how you believe in the business model and want this to be your final airline due to the bases and QOL and possibilities of expanding your usefulness into the training department.

Just wondering when folks have been contacting the MTC email after they've applied? What have you been sending them, just a note expressing interest or attaching a resume? Thanks!
