Dropping trips more difficult?

Just wait until displacements start, then we'll see how screwed up the grids and open time availability can become when everyone drops their trips where they are based to pick up everything they can where they live.

I guess you'll have to start those Facebook trading groups again.

Reserve drops will come back. It is in the interest of the company to allow reserve drops. Right now the grid for CA in LAS is min req'd + 10 for most days, allowing reserves to drop whole blocks or outside in to 4 day blocks that are min req'd + 2 for every day could save the company money. If I was a shareholder I would be pi$$ed if I saw how much money this company pays people to sit at home that want to have an unpaid day off.
As someone that bids rsv I do not want drops to come back. Guys start dropping and then I start getting used which is not the goal of bidding rsv. Also, as stated makes it hard for lineholders to drop.

Oh man maybe the senior pilots that hold the hold bases with try to pass a resolution protecting their open time from the commuters like the greedy FLL pilots did when FLL was under construction and upgrades had to commute.

Yes, FOs being used and abused every day. If it looks like you'll be all clear in your base (i.e. no open time) they'll shuttle your ass to another base to work a trip. QOL is in the dumps for junior FOs here combined with the pay is not going to help attrition.

Haha. That was so ridiculous. Now FLL is junior and guys are dropping in FLL to pick up in DFW.

A couple months later, is this still the case? For LAS FOs specifically?

Yep - life as a new FO on reserve is as advertised. The first month or two off OE you’ll have a relief line. It’s a night and day difference. My first month with a relief line I was able to swap/drop everything I wanted in base and all trips were commutable.

Yes and worst yet is even after you get a line you can’t drop anything due to grid being red. Obviously a line is better than reserve and once you get more seniority dropping is easier but I am at 1.5 years here (not long at all, just offering it for reference) and not once had a drop approved. I get it, most airlines don’t even allow drops like our language does, but when one of our main selling points is unusable that is a problem.
