I'm with you. The toxic Frontier management was a no-go for me. The clarity that came out of the past 6 months that our management wasn't much different was telling.. The day trips was an absolute mistake.

You know this is a point I hand't considered. How many airlines do you think are working behind the scenes to get this deal cancelled.

Spirit may be a slightly more expensive airline to fly on after this deal closes, but i can’t imagine any way they won’t offer a significantly and commensurately higher quality product. Frontier will be the new quality bottom feeder and Biffle seems quite proud of it.

It sure is interesting how many of these wounded CEOs know all the bad things that will happen if NK and B6 merge.

This merger would provide an entire consumer base a legacy experience at a discounted rate. Tell me how that’s unfair? But it’s perfectly ok to have 6 legacies tie up into 3 and call it day? They literally have 80% of the market. Frontier has the ULCC market to itself. There’s a vacuum for more startup airlines. Nothing about this seems unfair.

There won’t be a Spirit Airlines after the deal is complete and integrated. It will all be JetBlue product.

completely correct, the only thing i would say is that they havn't missed out on anything. if f9 and nk merged, god forbid, we would all just be under that mgmt group. what a terrible thought. With that being said united must be getting flooded with apps from f9 im guessing.

We’re moving forward while you all sit in limbo for the next 2 years not even knowing what you are. I have a ton of friends at spirit who are great guys so I know that I’m only speaking to the 1%’er group here. It’s funny how y’all just jumped a pedestal so quick. Time will tell how this plays out. Actually we won't be in "limbo". It will be business as usual, planes still coming bases still opening and $19 fares abound. If for some reason this does get shot down by the DOJ we'll still be the largest ULCC in the country.

Hate to break this to you but...your friends were being nice to you. They feel sorry for you. It's not you...it's your management. I was the same way with my F9 buddies, I danced around simply just saying there's no way I would work for your terrible management.

There were alot of F9 supporters when JB first made an offer. I can promise you that most I know..by far..switched to supporting a JB takeover. It's not our fault your management and ours came out and directly told us not to expect more money. We didn't make them shrink bases where we live. We didn't make them lie to shareholders and by extension, us, trying to push through a bum deal.

NK and F9 showed their hand. It sucked. We are free from Frankie. Focus your attention on pushing them to support you instead of treating you like crap.

I spent some time on frontier‘s website trying to find those $19 fairs and could not find a single one. I searched exactly to all the criteria (Black out date, certain days of the week, etc.) couldn’t not find a single one I found

now, I know Spirit has done the same in the past and I’m not saying there’s is honest either.

Those rates are a loss leader. It's a great strategy to get people in the seats and try to get add-ons like snacks, baggage fees, etc. In terms of an airline business model, the more budget the airline, the more of these rates you will see. The legacies really don't offer them because their pricing is typically all inclusive. These budget rates are also usually very restrictive. They are usually offered in the flying off seasons, at odd times, and to/from locations where traffic is light or a company is new to a market. It's a tactic that can work. But they of course are not exclusive to NK/F9. JB offers them, and of course so does SW. They are pretty common over at SW but with a big caveat that they are not really considered a loss leader because "bags fly free."

Bragging about a $19 rate isn't really a good idea. Unless a person adds on a bunch of other fees, that seat is being sold usually at a loss, but less of a loss than it would be if it were empty. The real concern for the ULCC model is that they are painted into the leisure travel corner. Business travelers are the ones with the money. They splurge on a lot since its typically not their money they are spending. We are seeing our bases in big cities being reduced simply because we cannot drive the same kind of traffic that a legacy, SW, or JB can. We are being moved slowly to leisure markets because this is where the ULCC model shines, but that is all we have. Any upset in that market and we go back to reducing our margins in profitability majorly.
