Here is the difference: "I got my schedule, im going to drop this 3 day trip so I can take a trip" vs "I got my schedule, ill post it on the trade board, of someone wants my double jungle turn redeye, I can go on that trip"

And sure, im all for more PTO, doesnt mean im giving up industry leading drop provisions for it. I'll take both, thanks.

don’t have to drop if you want to swap it. A red eye jungle turn I’d swap and if I couldn’t find anything to swap I’ll call out sick. Again plenty of options to get out of a trip with NEEDING to drop to zero.

You continue to sound like a noob. There has not always been the mass of open time in some bases, for some seats, as there is now. Don’t give up work rules because of how things are temporarily. Calling in sick is great, but guess what, ol JBLU won’t take the “careless” attitude NK does with repeated sick calls.

Work rules, once gone, usually never come back. I know you have it all figured out in a year, but you’re wrong on this.

Man, what a selfish short sighted opinion. Obviously, you’re not familiar with the crappy open time or lack there of in other bases like DFW CA side. Drop to zero is less about the zero part and more about the drop to freedom!

Freedom to drop(green grid obviously) without having to swap, trade, use pto or whatever else way one needs to manipulate the system to work for them.

I hope the majority of the NK guys, specifically SPA ALPA are willing to die on this hill!

He was doing steep turns in a 172 when our guys were fighting for our current red/green in arbitration. He doesn’t know what he doesn’t know.

Hopefully his/her/they/us/them type of thinking is the very RARE minority of our pilot group!!

Exactly this.

Also us not having “drop to 50” or “drop to zero but must finish the month with XX” means more pilots are willing to float trips out in open time because they aren’t worried about the company forcing trips back on them to meet a credit target. This is why even if you never in your NK career drop to zero credit, it still benefits you.

Most don’t understand the pain experienced when the company was blatantly ignoring the red/green language that we had to fight for all the way to winning arbitration to just keep what was negotiated.

You can Jumpseat or non rev on a sick call sport

Yep, and even though I have never dropped to zero I know how it benefits everyone bc folks are hoarding trips they don’t even want. I’m pretty senior, live in base, and most of my trips are close to what I want so I don’t even trade that much.

That said I will be using drop to zero this summer and that plan starts today. I’ll still work a little but when and where I want.

Your kids are only in a window for a short time of old enough to travel easily, and young enough that they don’t have other commitments like many teens do. YOLO
