Your last paragraph sounded like I said "I don't want DTZ over PS". Where's that coming from? Did I mention at any point that I want to compromise on this JCBA? How about this, go with us B6 folks on Profit Sharing, do it for your family if not for yourself. .
I’m not against profit sharing. Most of the pilots I talk to or fly with here aren’t against profit sharing. However the very crux of profit sharing is based on confidence in management to run the company in a way that consistently yields profits significant enough to share. One day the combined JetBlue may be large enough to complete with the biggest industry players and boast record profits. But between now and then billions need to be spent on planes and infrastructure and training and personnel. Shrewd strategies developed to navigate the pitfalls and industry events, wedge into competitive markets, and develop a product that stands out against well capitalized peers.

To me profit sharing is playing the long game, and yes I get the “negotiate for it now while it’s cheap” philosophy, but I’m under no illusions of seeing legacy sized checks for many years to come. What I can do for my family in the near term is preserve my unparalleled schedule flexibility, and raise my pay and benefits which continue to grow my retirement.

You see what I mean Hugh Betcha? While RemoveB4flight likes the idea of PS, he/she is not as enthusiastic about it as the next B6 guy/gal. That's just how it is with DTZ on the B6 side. We both support each other's big ticket item, the enthusiasm about it will just be different. Thanks for this example. And no one is under that illusion either about big checks, it's just the best time to improve the formula.

On a related note, we just got an LOA improving profit sharing in the right direction, and some other stuff. Just need to build on it a little more. Check out the B6 thread for info.

Of course none of us speak for the group, but the insight is helpful. I get your point. I think it's a great discussion. Civil, which I hope continues. The more I think about it, I've been flying with CFI's that pull for open decent 250 miles out while heading to the fix we're not going to go to. They don't know what they don't know yet, so as far as I'm concerned let's keep it up.
