I知 just a dumb pilot, but I would think adding service to SAN would be part of a recovery plan, not pulling out all together.

Yea, these used to be pretty big markets for Spirit. Not a good sign.

They're adding a ton of flights to South America later this year, maybe that's why.

Judging by the cities they are pulling out of, it looks like SWA is hitting them hard whereas before it was the other way around.
