I wonder if credit card money has to be in escrow. Could be why they don’t want a schedule too far out. Also the uncertainty of how much cash burn is being controlled and how long they can survive with continued burn. Management really has to rebuild the structure of NK to keep the creditors happy and keep passengers flying.

This statement makes no sense. NK employees are seeing cuts coming because the airline has not been profitable since 2019. They are now in their second BK and DIP financing is dependent on this. Cuts will come or NK will go away. The pay structure of another airline is irrelevant regarding NK taking cuts. To compare NK pay structure to WN is pure apples and oranges. NK employees truly need to look inward and see what it will take for survival instead of making comparisons to other airlines. I can’t see WN making a play for NK, just doesn’t make financial sense. NK is in too much of a mess for anybody.

From: DOWNGRADE COMPLETE: Thanks Gary. Thanks SWAPA.
Additionally, SWA needs A321XLRs (or larger and with even greater range) or a smaller jet to replace hundreds of aging -700NGs. Nothing in the NK fleet does that.

Unfortunately there is too much domestic capacity in the US. What is the best way to raise fares in an environment like this? Hence why no airlines have yet to come out and buy the smaller Spirit.
SWA is only interested in strategic real estate as every other airline is too. Domestic capacity is still a problem. Most airlines last quarter saw a drop in domestic yields. Until that goes the other way, most airlines will sit on the sidelines this time. I still say Frontier is the one that may jump in. Gives them scale.
