I was half joking. The company has been "proactive" however the M/X dept i.e. Company really hasn't attempted to "fix" the issue.

M/X changes PACK filters, or just defers the APU. The problem still exists and is putting receiving crews in a very ****ty position, don't you think?

DFW Mx is pretty good. The lead mechanic said there is nothing else he could do. I asked if we had a spare AC sitting around, you can probably guess the answer.

So what does "nothing else we can do" equate to?

It just means they don't want to park the airplane so we are stuck flying something that will slowly kill us?

I love how we are all expected to just "deal with it". At a fraction of the pay of our counterparts too.

I would suspect that most of these fume events are coming from compromised seals and/or cracked bleed valves. Substances are getting vaporized into the cabin air supply that should not be. Are they really checking all these seals and valves? Can a filter be installed somewhere downstream of all potential contamination sources? I suppose the ultimate solution is to design all aircraft environmental systems like that of the B-787 from now on. Here is just one example of an airline trying to deal with the problem (article from a few years ago): Lufthansa Working To Reduce A380 Cabin Fume Events | AWIN content from Aviation Week

Maybe someone should send this to Jyri, or maybe Just email it to Ackerman. I'm sure they are together this week

If the fumes were discovered when running the apu bleed then deferring the apu is actually an acceptable fix to get the flight operated IMO. Obviously I would not go if we had the fumes in flight or anytime on the engine bleeds.

He isn't running for re-election. Ackerman will be stepping down in March. You would maybe know that if you sent a email to your Rep saying that our chairman needs to go.

On a side note, its funny how a few of you who constantly whine and attack on here are usually completely ignorant and wrong about what you are talking about a majority of the time. It is a complete waste of time reading your posts.

If anyone has someone they think would be a good MEC chairman, please send a email to your reps.
