Company is saying it is sim availability, union is saying it is deeper systematic issues that need all stakeholders involved to come together to fix. The fear is that no real changes are made during this drawdown and we shrink in 24.
It was not a very feel good call, hence the email almost immediately.

Ostensibly no new hire class in December, maybe 12 total new hires split between Jan/Feb and before that email yesterday the communication from the company to people who held CJOs was “we no longer have a date for you and may not into 2Q24”.

id still rather be at SY when the economy takes a dump vs other ULCC or legacy.

mid term bargaining tactics by the company and union. Why would the union say all is well going into mid term? Just to have the company take advantage of negotiations. When’s the last time the union was ever conpletely happy with company decisions? Never. It’s what they do.

After listening in today I feel nothing I wrote is misinformation. More or less spot on. The shrink is on.
The NSLI bit is (admittedly)a juicy rumor. As stated.
Do tell what we're missing and are therefore misleading.
I am, after today, after listening to all sources, 100% thinking we're executing an Amazon exit strategy. Could be wrong. Time will tell. But that's my unbiased opinion.

Sunny leasing away two aircraft?

But, yes, here What’s the latest? I was referring to the (5) 900s and the (2) 800s which are being leased back instead of flown by us. Why fix the problems causing people to bypass upgrade when you can shrink to success??
Anyway, no one is using the words "death spiral" so that's good.

If you keep reading back, I think you'll find the full context.

I could see them to continue to purchase planes and not address the elephant in the room! The simulator issue is not the problem. It's their way to deflect the problem. The union and pilots have tried for months if not a year plus to help fix the issues. It's gonna take money and QOL improvements to get it the upgrades and retention issues fixed. Let the locals fly the short trips, let the commuters fly the long trips. Give some flexibility in trading and dropping trip! There you go half the problem solved. Now just pay your way with rates and it will slow attrition. Let's be honest, if a guy wants to fly a wide body they will never stay.
