Sun Country Bridge
#1

Couple questions for those who are familiar with the Sun Country bridge with Mankato, UND, and SDSU.
I have been in contact with a recruiter from Sun Country since about June as my school has been working on building a bridge with them. It's finally happened, and they are coming to do "Meet and Greets" this next month in mid-September. If all goes well, I will receive an in-person interview in MSP. Super exciting times, but at this point I'm already graduated and a pretty seasoned CFI (22 signoffs, 100% pass rate, no check ride failures myself, etc.) I'm a bit burnt out of instructing and I'm ready to move on. I have a class date with Skywest with CTP October 14. So, a few questions...
1. Do a qualify for the bridge?
2. If I do qualify, and get a class date, then become employed by Skywest, would I disqualify myself? My intent would be to leave Skywest at my Sun Country class date.
3. How far out are the interviews?
4. How far out are class dates?

Just go to skywest and then apply to sun country. Bridge students are dropping out like flies. I wouldn’t risk it.
You will have the same , if not worse schedules at sun country than skywest. Prepare for multiple legs a day in a 73 and working 5-6 day trips stacked together with minimal days off in between.
And then management wonders why all the new kids don’t want to stay here. Zero QOL here unless your bidding 10% in your seat. I would steer elsewhere.

Man I’m coming over from CommutAir in December… you’re not giving me warm fuzzies.

For some context: In September, 7.2% trips are 6 days. 35.4% 1 days. And everything in between.

Don't worry, APC sentiment often doesn't quite match the average in reality. Seems like almost every ex-regional guy I talk to is ecstatic to be here. They aren't strangers to multi-leg days at the regionals either

Yeah we’re always working 3-5 leg days. Always bumping up against our max duty days, and I’d say 60% of the time we’re on min crew rest. So needless to say, when you combine max duty duty days, or very close, and toss in a couple min crew rests, you start getting a little beat up.

Always working 3-5 leg days? Maybe if all you do is casino flying.

I believe he was referring to his CommutAir schedule. I think anyone who has been any meaningful time on the line at a regional, especially flying 50 seaters, is going to be a big fan of the SY trips.
