I used to do something similar with a Piper Navajo, nearly 30 years ago. Under the proper circumstances, it was quite effective. There is a limited temperature range and set of conditions under which it works.

This would seem a little quicker albeit a little more expensive



Just be rolling down the runway with the afterburner going.

The russians do that for ice removal on runsways. It has to be seen to be believed.

The ones I've seen used jet engines mounted on large trucks.
