737MAX - what makes it so great?
Can someone please tell me what makes the 737Max so great? It doesn't look like it beats the 321Neo in any meaningful way. I've been looking for comparisons but haven't really found any decent discussions based on metrics.
For example, can it takeoff with a full passenger load or will you have to deplane lots of paying customers? I hear this is a problem with the later model 737s.
Is there more room in the cockpit yet?
Is any of the flight control system more advanced than 1960's technology?

Lighter, better fuel economy, and "less" maintenance. The first two are pretty much a given, the last one is yet to be seen. It's all about the bottom line, whatever can move the most people from point A to point B for less cost to the airline.
As for the PW1000 NEOs, it seems like a great concept but as with anything new it has its growing pains. It may become the new standard design since standard turbojet engine efficiency is already highly engineered to the limits of modern improvement.

With the exception of the rare icing at arrival which I think has been fixed the Max will do better than the A321 on longer flights. I was just denied a jumpseat on a A321 CEO going from CLT to LAX for weight and they pulled revenue passengers.
