Citation X Question

Revamped Citation X... wups "Ten" on the way soon. Cessna is nervous about the Gulfstream G650 being the "fastest midsize business jet" which is splitting hairs if you ask me, but the flight deck on the old Ten really needed some modernizing and the new one comes with winglets as standard equipment, both very nice although minor improvements.

I do not have access to that book. I can't find any reputable sources online indicating the CE-750 had ever exceeded mach 1.0. I believe if Cessna were so proud, they would indicate so on their website. Also, a dive results in an increase in temperature thereby raising the indicated airspeed required to attain mach 1. Paste a link, and I'll concede.

I just realized the new Ten is the "Stretch Ten" Citation rumored to be in the works around Wichita for the last 3 years. It is not a minor upgrade at all; it is definitely a major development of the X series airframe. I liken it to when Boeing added the "Next Generation 737" to the 737 series or the CJ4 was added to the CitationJet series. I look forward to seeing the first flying model in a year or two.

It's pretty much the "Super Ten" I heard about in March 2009 when we were taking delivery of our 2+...although the thought then was PL21 avionics.
I hope Cessna is able to stretch its range out to 3400nm @ the 0.82M LRC speed...

The Super Ten or Stretch Ten was already "in the can" as of that time according to the rumor network. That it was already completed in mid-2009 lines up with the fact Cessna cut their R&D spending precipitously following the onslaught of the recession last year. All that remains to do with the Stretch Ten now (sounds easy) is to build a couple of prototypes and flight test them. The range and other numbers will change a tad during FT perhaps, and there is always a discovery factor there, but I do not expect to see any serious performance changes in a frozen design like this.

Citation X inlet shock
So, after reading this thread, I am inclined to believe that the fastest business jets can go slightly supersonic if pushed that far. I assume a strong normal shock is forming in the inlet near M1.0, but it seems like if the inlet isn't designed for supersonic flight, you risk putting the engines into compressor stall. How are they avoiding this?
