If you have correctly stated the question, it is a trick question. If it is asked verbally in an interview I would just say I don't take off on taxiways, unless I'm drunk. And no, you do not use the scale at the bottom for anything that might involve runway distance information for anything pertaining to the operation of your aircraft. BTW, I'm not being mean, but that you even asked those questions; here are some more to ponder... 1) If there are 3 frogs on a log and one decided to jump off, how many frogs are on the log? 2) Who is buried in Grant's tomb 3) When was the war of 1812 4) If an airplane crashed on the border of the US and Canada on which side would they bury the survivors?
Worded my question a little poorly, but ur interpretation would be like tower telling u to contact ground on ".9" and u letting tower know ur radio doesn't receive that low.

Intersection departures from a taxiway intersecting a runway with a distance less than the total available length of the runway.

OK enough... I wasn't being mean; I was attempting to get him to use his critical thinking, based on the way he asked the questions. There are still 3 frogs on the log. The frog had only decided to jump off the log, though had not yet done so. I ask this question many times to see how someone thinks, especially if I am flying with them. If I wanted to be mean, I would have asked him "Where was the Battle of New Orleans?" It was actually in Chalmette. Only the locals and history buffs know that, so it wouldn't have been fair or relevant. I want this guy to go on and be very successful and that will involve much critical thinking; that is used in making decisions. Captains make decisions. Companies rarely hire co pilots, they hire captains...
