Fore-play, I mean Foreflight for Android is not worth much over AWS/NOAA or some other free app. Not very good at all. I understand F/F is really only aimed at Apple products, but whatever the reason it has no solid value and I get the feeling it is more of a work in progress than a serious app.

They've got a crappy one, which is my point. I just do not want to convert over to Apple phones & tablets.

I seem to like FF better. VFR, Lows, Highs, and it just seems to run smoother. Jepp has a neat feature that allows for highlighting or marking on the plates. I think its cool, especially for sids and stars. There has been times that I would have to zoom in pretty close in order get VOR freqs to display...which seems to be annoying from time to time.

Didn't know that , they don't even advertise the android app on their website.

The apple version feels more like a finished masterpiece than a work in progress. I'm surprised they would release an app that wasn't up to par

Are you talking about foreflight weather 2.0?

It says v2.8 on my About [Foreflight] cell phone page. Again, I have the Android F/F app, not the Apple app. I suspect the latter are far more complete. But if you expect much from the Android version, forget it.

I really like Foreflight but recently have had some update notification and other general issues with updates. Other than those, I would recommend it to anyone.

I use Foreflight with an ipad in hard IFR with my students and it works amazing, even without the geo-referenced feature ($150 i think versus the basic $80).

I've never had a problem with the download speed or notifications. It only updates once a month and even then it doesn't always update everything. In all it will take an hour or two but if you need to charge it anyway then it's no big deal.

In either case, I can't imagine going back to paper charts now.

Can seem to see if this is right, but Jepp is quiet expensive compared to Foreflight..
Pros-Cons for both appps?
I just purchased FF last week and thus far have been very happy with it. The great thing about FF is its compatibility with so many types of hardware out there, from GPS/WAAS receivers to data up-links. I fly an IA-1125 Astra, and was happily surprised when I realized that FF was communicating with the aircraft's Baron Datalink, and all the sudden I was getting XM Weather!

I don't think there is a better application that gives you so many facets of flight-planning in such a nice "one stop shop." Right down to fuel prices!

Good luck!
