[QUOTE=Jetjok;91294]The Airbus 300-600 is a great jet. The A-310 a little less so. If the autobrake selection is in Max, the jet stops so quickly that it might actually come to a complete stop before the autobrakes are released by the crew. The first time I had a landing with Max selected, it stopped so quickly, I didn't even have time to deploy the reversers. It's an eye opening experience.

Actually the CFM forbids the use of MAX Autobrakes in the landing phase. At least for the 4 years that I was Captain on the thing.

Thanks again. Ya can't put anything past a freightdawg. I had already acknowledged that fact in an earlier post, but thanks anyway. Really. No kidding. I had just forgotten. On the Mad Dog you can use max. Airbus, just for RTO's (again if I remember correctly.):)

As a side issue, ECAM is way better than any alert driven system (that Boeing makes), because the jet at all times knows what problems it has and presents, in plain english, the correct checklist as well as the schematic of the system involved, so that when you press a tile and move a valve, you can actually see that valve move. Very cool and very smart. You've gotta remember that these Airbuses were built for 3rd world nations to fly. So a guy could actually park his camel (as an example), and climb into and fly an airbus. The Boeing and MD products all require much more system knowledge, which can be a good thing, or a very bad thing at 3 AM after having flown all night.

Been flying this acft for quite some time. Never seen ANYONE land the jet with MAX brakes selected.

Jetjok 12-13-2006 04:01 AM

Fedupbusdriver,

Please read the last two of my apologies about this issue. It's been 5 years since I flew the bus and just plumb forgot. Again, for the third and last time, Sorry! I'm sure I just got it confused with the Mad Dog, which you can and do land with max brakes.

JetJocF14 12-13-2006 05:19 AM

Hey other JetJok can you run the gasper fan in flight as well as on the ground its been around 20 years or so since I was last on that panel.

Just teasing a little. Enjoy the holidays and I hope your not out on some ugly trip on XMAS...................................... but home with your family opening presents, eating turkey, and sipping a little scotch by the warm fire.

Jetjok 12-13-2006 05:31 AM

Ahhhhh, the panel. It's what makes us a family. It doesn't matter how long since you "flew it", you never really forget it. However, I've never found that gasper fan switch, so I just can't answer your question.;)

Anyone who shows a photo of an F-14 as his avatar, can't be all bad. I used to love to fight those guys. You could see them from 20 miles away, especially when they had those wings in "slow flight" mode. And besides, didn't the 14 weigh just about the same thing as an empty MD-11?:D Have a Merry Christmas and a safe New Year. To All!

JetJocF14 12-13-2006 05:43 AM

Yes it does weigh as much as an empty MD-11 but sadly can only carry 1 package. But it gets it there really really fast..........................;)
