Default Studying ATP with Shep Air then ground school

Hey guys Im scheduled to go to ATP school In Dallas next month some time and I was wondering how far in advance I need to be studying for the ATP. Is waiting until I get to the school and study after class and SIMs not advisable? Also I have not received an email for what I need to know for day 1 ground school is there anything like that I need to memorize prior to showing up to STL? I'm kinda bogged down with some check rides and getting my last little bit of 250 hrs FW time. (Rtag guy) and I'm trying to not over load myself as much as possible.

Thanks

You can easily study Sheppard the week you do ATP.
ATP classroom is a dozefest. Death by PowerPoint. And the test at the end of the ATP-CTP is a joke.
Most people spent the classroom time using the Sheppard app.

Get the Shep Air at least two weeks out. The first week can be a light pass a few times through. You will be bored/tired during ATP/CTP between crash documentaries and PowerPoint as discussed.

I would start studying now. IMHO. Make sure that you follow the Sheppard Air study strategies and you’ll be fine. The ATP/CTP course DOES NOT prepare you to take the ATP written. Like a previous poster said, it’ll be crash videos and war stories from the retired airline guys teaching the course. See if you can to get a good time slot to take your written. My last sim session ended at 0200. I was slated to take the test at 0900 that morning. We spoke with the admin people and got them to moved it to 1000. Sim times are assigned by lottery. Maybe you’ll get lucky. It also depends on your ATP/CTP class size. Mine was small (7). There were classes with over 15 per class and they were running multiple classes. Good Luck.
