Was there some sort of game on? I hope all your teams lose and it ruins your day.

I am looking into joining a regional if I can, I live close to STL. I have 8000 hrs 1500 multi, mostly piston time and some turbine but is flying an Ag plane. I passed my written ATP last week. I have zero 121 time and my 135 experience is all piston twin. Would I be ready FAA requirements and be comfortable enough to upgrade to captain in a year? The pay is the main reason I'd like to be at captain with a family to support. Pretty much 99% of my 8000 hours is pic and single pilot as well.

That's what I was wondering as well if I'd actually be ready or not by then. I'm sure it'd be a case by case deal. If I did pass up the upgrade to get more experience would I loose that opportunity?

Ok thanks for the info. I definitely wouldn't want to be in a position if I wasn't comfortable. Do you think my 135 and 91 corporate experience would help some, I flew in or around quite a bit of weather ice and thunderstorms. I probably have about 3000 hours of that type of flying.

The money side is the only reason I'd want to move to captain early currently I make about what a captain does. As far as my ego and all that I can be patient. I want to be safe obviously the reason for leaving flying Ag planes, I've lost to many close friends and acquaintances, most would think I'm nuts to leave the money side of it.

No one would look negatively on your decision. If anything, it's a positive sign of good decision making. No, you wouldn't lose the opportunity to upgrade and could do so the next time a slot was offered.

Hopefully you understand what I mean and don't take it the wrong way. I'm just trying to get advice from people with experience that's doing the job at hand.
