All I know about this is the little I've read here and online, but it looks to me like USAPA at least hit a double on this regardless of your personal feelings about them. This seems to be bigger than any one pilot group or union, this speaks to the authority of the captain which has been steadily eroding for the past decade or more. If there is any substance to the claims of USAPA, then they have done a good thing here.

If anything, security should have hauled away the gate agents for interfering with an aircrew member performing their duties, unless she was relieved by appropriate persons listed in the company's AOM/FOM or whatever Useless Airways calls it, and then that person should have been named in the ad.
Sadly the west pilots will attack anything east does, right or wrong. All professionals should thank Capt. Wells for not being intimidated to fly that illegal AB 330 anywhere, let alone across the pond. The Captain had no stby radios, no power, ZIP after the APU shutdown after pushback. The crew had to yell to the rampers to go get help. Yet the mechanics assumed the capt was using another mtc issue as an excuse. That's this sad company we work for. Fotunately the 330 Captain testified under oath yesterday, told the whole story to the astonishment of all in the courtroom, and the Company, classically, had "no comment, your honor". As for the west attacking the east regardless of right or wrong, the simple fact is that east has made all the profits since the 2005 merger. If east fails, there is no west. I'm ready for retirement, how about you?

the 330 incident is completely true, and it is the Company who is telling lies. But of course, only what west pilots say is true, despite financial records and court testimony. The west knows all. Well, here is one simple truth. If east does not survive, west is gone. period. Have a nice retirement, I'm ready anytime and hope your wishes come thru on the dmise of this airline. I'd rather not work for mgmt that lies to the public saying it is safe to fly a widebody across the ocean with no stby power. I am pushed to fly with mtc items all the time, multiple mel's which often go thru mtc hgr and come out with the same problems. Really impressive, this Tempe Team. Not honest nor good, but very impressive.
