Not only that, but in the seat from which I aviate, there is zero open flying. Obviously this changes from domicile to domicile and seat to seat as the schedule changes.

My point is, don't plan on lapping up that gravy. Overtime is ethereal. It takes a certain amount of horsepower and luck to realize it. I apparently, have neither. Its great if you can get it, but don't base your budget on it.

I'm sucking min guarantee eggs right now. Tho I've checked the VDO box, I'd probably have better luck trying to score a date with (insert your generations hottie here).

Look things change form month to month. One day United is great, the next they are bottom of the barrel. Do what you think is right for YOU. Real pilots accept you for the smart choices you make, not who writes your checks. You will be welcomed to come to United, but we will always respect your choice.

Profession is always more important than employer. Work at United, jetBlue or any where else, but what matters most is what you stand for. Support your fellow pilots, and they will support you.

If you desire to work a lot as means to make lots of money, United isn't your best work rule choice. Some bases and seats better than others. But if you want to find ways to stay with a decent qol and still be able to make a few extra here and there United is the place. Like most places, living locally really helps.

EWR 737 75%, I had to really work the trade boards to break 100 credit the last two months. Zero SRM available at my seniority. But I managed to grab trips with DH legs whenever they popped up.

You can make SERIOUS cash with VDOs...
ex. On RSV for 4 days VDO for a five day, 150% for flight time the whole trip...
Thinking about bidding reserve for April... ;)

Is part of that add pay? Or just towards guarantee?

The vdo counts towards add pay

The extra 50% of the trip is add pay. Normal value goes toward guarantee. 5-E-8-b

It's a double whammy right now...the flying has disappeared and we are still overstaffed by 20-25 guys. I'm sure the pendulum will swing to the other extreme before too long. 40 guys on reserve on any given day? That's a little overkill.
