Thank you again for all the details!! Really appreciate it. Last curiosity, is it easy for a new hire to request for a Guam base? I assume not everyone wants to live outside of the U.S. for various reasons.

that’s a tough one, because of how they limit the airframes in class. Guam only has 737s, and recently the 737 has been going a little more senior in indoc. (Seniority in indoc class is by age, oldest first.) They limit how many in each class can get 737, 320, or 756. So they may still have Guam slots available, but if they run out of total 737 slots before they get to you, you still can’t get it. That said, in the last class the 737 was available at the next to last person in class, so it varies class by class.

That being said, it does come up on vacancies and goes fairly junior. However, If you are coming to United with the expectation of getting it right off the bat, that’s probably not the best bet. Not that it’s desirable or not desirable, just that it’s small and it’s vacancies are based largely on things less predictable than our larger hubs.

yes, but if you don’t get the 737 in indoc, you’ve got two years on your seat lock before you can get it

Yep. that’s kind of the point. Don’t come to United if you must have a 737 to Guam.

1) Is GUM still only 737-8?

Most jr CA in GUAM as of the last bid close was an 8,9xx seniority #. That’s more like 8-9 years on property.
