How about those pilots that have had drop requests in for the past few weeks and now coincidentally they are sick? Those I can't help but raise an eyebrow, but whatever... If they are sick good for them for doing the right thing regardless of the holiday.

Or the guys that brag about calling in sick every Christmas. I always give them a look of disgust. Thanks for screwing over your fellow pilots.

Or the guys that bid reserve to get Xmas off and then complain when they get rolled into their days off...but they aren’t willing to waste negotiating capital to improve Reserve Rules because reserve is a choice.

The only time I ever called in sick for Christmas, I was actually sick. But I’ve had multiple years of schedules that had 6 day work blocks over the holiday, followed by 2days off then a 4 day block after resulting in about 2 nights at home in 11-12 days, I toughed it out but can’t blame a guy for bagging in for one of those deals. I understand I signed up to wrk holidays when I got this gig, but it would be nice if it was only a 4day block with a couple days on either side. Some of the Sh$t PBS puts out shouldn’t surprise the company. I wonder if we offered premium or holiday pay if that wouldn’t actually be more beneficial to the company in the long run. The FA gobble those trips up.

I got sick for two weeks over XMAS and NYE two weeks off of IOE. It happens. Chill.

Then grow a set and send them an e email with your contact info included and let them know personally.

Although I wouldn't "call anyone out", I do think it's ok to say that calling in sick on Christmas if you don't need to is not ok.

I worked almost every Christmas from about '90 to 2009. I remember one year at CommutAir being holed up in Utica NY in a room where the heat wasn't working and the front desk said they had no other rooms so I spent 10 hours in the lobby and skipped a shower in the morning.

Point is, one doesn't need to "call people out" to simply make the point that calling in sick on Christmas if you don't need too should not be considered an ok thing to do. Now having said that I will admit that I had to call in sick on Thanksgiving this year so I know things aren't always what they appear and one can not assume anything until you "walk in the other's shoes".

Last Airline gig paid double time for anything flown in Xmas day, made sick class go WAY down .

There are those that don't have family that would rather work to make extra pay then those who would rather stay at home .
