Thanks man. There actually might be the chance of an upgrade before I apply to UAL, so that would help I guess.

For 2016, 98.3% of the 502 pilots hired had a bachelors degree.

For all pilots hires 2016;

Average TT 5500
PIC 2900
Turbine 4800

Thats 493.466 pilots. I think the .466 guy had a degree from Devry University...

Surprised it was even that high.

The XJT CPP hasn’t kicked in yet, and some of them are allowed in without it.

Seems like heard that before 2016, only like 5 had been hired without. And 1 got himself fired.

Remember this; it's not the best pilots who get hired at an airline, it's the persistent and lucky ones. Your lack of a 4yr degree puts you way down in the stack. But don't get discouraged, I personally know of 5 or 6 United pilots who do not have 4yr degrees - so they were very lucky. How lucky do you feel? Why not try and push a little harder and get that 4yr degree - either way, be persistent and don't give up.

Volunteering certainly helps. And it's good to do anyway. Get the degree. Every day wasted not getting it is one more day you'll have to wait.

It’s been 7 years since I applied but I don’t remember there being anything on the app about volunteering. It was on a small portion of my resume...which wasn’t seen until the interview. Maybe it’s different now. I wish they wouldn’t consider it though. Sounds too much like my old job where performance came second to building houses for habitat for humanity on days off.
