Well, it’s getting put out for vote to the membership. The polling starts tomorrow to see how the membership wants SWAPA to handle it. My guess is that it will be a hard NO to increase the retirement age. Then our Government Affairs committee will have their marching orders to do what they can to make sure it doesn’t come to fruition.

That’s good news. Over here, management writes the LOAs/MOUs and passes them to our union leadership for their signatures. What’s a poll?

It sounds like you don't like how the MEC does business.

If that is indeed the case, get involved. You don't have to be elected to a position to help. Go to a meeting, floor a resolution. Be part of the process. If you want to help more, run for a position and put in 10 times the work for 1/3 the pay. Help the process change or mold it to how you think it should go. If you don't participate, then you get what you get.

Local Hotel Committee, then? How will that fix how leadership runs things? Hey look, I’m doing local committee work. Management just wrote another MOU and the MEC passed it at midnight with no discussion because the MC already has the votes in his pocket.

What you said makes absolutely no sense. Just another limp duck response making excuses for a management sympathetic leadership team.

I’m a MDW-based SWA FO with the opportunity to go to UAL. As someone who loves local to Chicago, living in base is huge and a no-brainer. What does seniority progression look like for those that want to stay on either the 737 or 320 in ORD? Projected ORD upgrade times? I’ve done widebody cargo and aren’t super interested in it, but curious about 75/76 & 78 timeline to hold ORD as an FO a well.

just looking at our junior pilot report, looks like you could hold ORD 320 or 737 FO alimony as soon as there is a vacancy bid for it.. ORD CA in either plane would be around 6 years. ORD 756 FO would be almost right away. ORD 787 FO would be within a year as well

You're sending mixed messages here. On one hand, you say you're not interested in long haul... then you ask about it. My two cents... changing horses in the middle of the stream rarely works out well. While I'm not as pessimistic about the world economy as many, we're definitely in a time of uncertainty. UAL has furloughed twice in the last 20 years... SWA has never furloughed. If you want to do long haul, your choice is obvious. If you don't want to do long haul, I think your choice is just as obvious.

the last vacancy ORD seniority went backwards. It was going to new hires with the huge vacancy but not anymore
