Ha! I missed that. Oh well, count me out then. :(

I am considering switching sides for a few months ;)

Maybe going to regional like CommutAir will the quickest way to get to United but after spending almost 10 years at the regionals it a bitter pill to swallow. I am at LCC and with the latest Delta hiring statistics, (I suspect United hiring preferences are similar) it appears that a regional pathway might be my only option.

So a little back on track with the original intent of this thread. So if you got a Cp meet and greet, the chief can only write his LOR into the airlineapps site, there isn’t some super secret portal that they can put something in? I like a lot of other people had a meet and greet late last year and haven’t heard anything.

Yeah, that's pretty standard.

Make sure your DAL, AA, Fed Ex, SWA, and UPS stuff is up to date.

Good luck.

Thanks for bringing the thread back on track.

3.5 years ago CP LORs went through airlineapps.

It appears as if the LOR format has changed. No longer includes "Flying Performance."

Current format for the endorsing pilot:

Your Name:
Your Phone:
Your Email:

Are you a United Airlines employee? *Yes *No *Retired
Years Acquainted
Recommendation:

I'm not sure about 2018 but in recent times (2017) the Chief Pilots had a limited number of "silver bullets". As you can imagine they were very mum about them as they are constantly being pestered by prospective applicants and fellow pilots.

The rumor I heard is two per month.

A friend at UAL got me in front of a CP early 2016. From the CP’s mouth, 2 per month. Didn’t hear anything after for almost a year until my friend ran into the CP at a LCA meeting... He approached my friend and told him he wanted to “put me through.” Months after that I was forwarded an email from the CP to the Hiring Department. Almost a year after that I got the Hogan.

Sorry the timeline is a little fuzzy, but that’s my experience. I’m not sure of the letter itself got me an interview, as a lot of things changed between the letter and the invite (new job at a LCC, new type, more hours, more volunteer work)... I hope this helps...

Speaking of recommendations, for the interview- are people bringing in formal versions of their letters? Or will the interview panel have the LOR portion of the AirlineApps addendum already printed in front of them?

So if I’m understanding this right, the chief pilot is probably meeting with several people but only a couple of them are actually going to get like “Silver bullet” LOR and the rest of us regular ones?

Unless something has changed, "silver bullet" is NOT the term. In fact, there was a time when doing a M&G that it was made VERY CLEAR it's not a silver bullet by the CP.

But it's probably safe to assume that even this new and improved/very limited style of M&G is it's own little competitive pool within itself.
