Default How easy is it to drop Reserve Days/Trips

Questions for relatively new/ish pilots:

In general how easy is it to drop Reserve days (1-7 days) and then pick up a 4 day (as an example) in open time that works better for your schedule? Or drop a couple of day trips that don't work for your schedule? Pay being secondary...

Also, what is the minimum hours that a pilot HAS to work in a month in order to keep benefits?

TIA

if you are a line holder you can drop down to 50 hours... that is the min. I don't believe you can drop RSV days... and if on RSV you can't "pick up" a 4 day "open time" trip unless its in your SILO (number of block days in a row on RSV) and the day prior at the 1100L trip trade run.

You mean like weekends that don’t work in your schedule? But the Mon-Thur does? Sorry but no...at least that’s my understanding.
If you’re talking about picking up a trip that’d be even a bigger no! Line holders couldn’t exercise their seniority rights

You can call the futures desk and usually move one reserve day, but that would more than likely have to be at the beginning or end of a block.

No you can't drop reserve days.

You can aggressively pick up a trip if you're on reserve for the days the trip falls on. This would be the day before the trip starts.

I’ve had the CPO drop reserve days for me without pay for Dr. Appointments.

You can call futures desk and move as many days around as you want or they’ll allow.

Haha! You mean that's not an option? Dangit!

Is that 50 hour min. Block or Credit? Not sure if there's much of a difference with NB flying.

Just to clarify, you can drop reserve days. I have done it often. Each day drops your MPG (of course). There are some restrictions that aren’t written anywhere but I’ve learned after doing it occasionally since 2013.

- the day has to be plus on reserve coverage, obviously
- there can’t be any “orphan” reserve days (a single reserve day with a day off on either side)
- I’ve found the best way to start the conversation is something like “I’d like to personal drop without pay some reserve days, is day x over coverage?, day y?” and so on. They used to be confused but the last two times i’ve done it they’ve jumped right in and said which days do you want. Last time they went so far as to move some days around in order to make dropping a day doable.

Dropped four days just last December. It shows up on the master schedule as “PRDP” (personal drop). I tried to post a screenshot but couldn’t get past the attachments parameters.
