You can spot these guys walking through the door for a briefing.
They are almost always passive aggressive. They are usually the “mouth” during a briefing. They are concerned about the wrong stuff and try to bring up and argue minutiae. They create drama to subconsciously take the attention off their poor flying ability. When stuff goes really wrong they inevitably have one or all of typical age old excuses and it’s never their fault and they never take responsibility or ownership for their lack o skill. These guys are not the typical rusty pilot who wants to brush up and get better. The pro bunky has perfected the bare minimum, acceptable standard, just skimming by lifestyle. Wow that is spot on! Reminds me of one of my LAST landings class at TK. One guy loud mouth and the "expert" blah, blah, blah...I will go last ok fella's???? Instructor said um...no you go first, he fails! Can't fly! It was sad and a comedy all at the same time. Guy was a LUAL guy hired in 92' and can't fly! wow! |

Ask them what exactly was running through their mind applying to United Airlines as an early twenty-something essentially unqualified pilot in ‘85 just as the storm clouds were gathering. We all know the answer; I'd just like to hear their explanations.

A bit of a tangent but, can you really fail a landings class?

Interesting.... So if a dude or dudette bangs(pun intended) a landing class are they brought back before their next 90 day visit?
Depends on the bust I’m sure. If you bust a ride bad enough you can be dequaled. |

DAL guy here, trying to understand your WB positions. You guys have a biddable "bunkie" position? From what I've seen on our 4-man crews is that the senior Captain is in charge and they generally look to see who needs the landings. The last 4 man trip I did, the lead Captain pointed at us two FOs and said you guys are about to expire so you will get the landings, what breaks do you want. Always interested to hear how other operations work. Thanks.
