Ha I was just checking this forum to see if anyone got the shoulder tap. Not me, aerocrew said July 23rd but I doubt they go out all at once.

The virtual job fair for United is informational only. After United's presentation, recruiters will answer questions for 1 hour at their booth. The event is free to attend and if you miss it you can watch the presentation later.

Are these job fairs sort of "irrelevant" now a days? What's the reason for having them? All of the pertinent info is available on the internet.... Just curious.

You can ask direct, personal questions that may only be pertinent to you. And sometimes direct from the horses mouth is better than hearsay.

Do these job fairs cost money?

YES! Save your money. These are just money makers for the people that run them. Complete waste of money and time. People wake up!

That's what I was thinking. If someone wants to ask a direct personal question they just need to pick up the phone and call HR at Airline X, Y, or Z, or call a friend working there.

Those job fairs should be paying the prospective pilots to come and show up. Without pilots showing up, the job fair doesn't mean anything anyway. No audience. The dynamics have changed.....It's a pilots market now.

The upcoming job fair in September is in house for United and they are selecting 600 pilots from airline apps to attend, essentially pre interviewing those applicants who would have gotten their apps pulled anyways. If you consider hiring projections of ~800 pilots (I know they haven’t hired close to their goal in years...), getting the invite to this fair is a pretty big deal. Furthermore probably 40-50% of new hires at United will come from CPP agreements at express carriers, I would imagine a large chunk of the remaining interview invites for 2019 will come from this job fair.

Our job fairs are free for pilots and you do not need to be a member in order to attend. By attending you can get information directly from recruiters and ask questions if needed.

Recruiters like to attend because it cuts down on their recruting costs. Pilots like it because you save time and money. Even if you don’t get the day off you are still able to attend.
