That’s one reason why scope needs to die

It’s funny that all I’ve said is I’m not thrilled about this order and a whole bunch of people rush to call me names and defend management. I’m never going to be excited about orders that go to our regional partners.

I’m excited to be replacing CRJs because they suck something fierce. If we are going to have a 70 seat product we might as well have the best 70 seat product.

I’m also happy that we are forcing the company to fly inefficient airplanes.

Aren’t you glad we cancelled those 700s? Old technology and all. Knew this was coming. It was just a matter of time. Embrace the suck.

How much money would we lose flying a 700 with 70 pax in it? Not to mention the more expensive purchase cost. Or is your argument we could just put 700s on 175 routes and having more seats will create more demand?

Maybe they’re going to have a helium system to mix in helium with the cabin air to reduce the overall weight and give everyone a high voice?

Exactly. It is an indication that the company knows they have a substandard product in the Small Jet end of the network and it is becoming critical. UA puts a premium on fleet commonality and leans towards Boeing. Just say no to scope relief.

The CS100/300s definitely have a nicer cockpit and more range, but barring an amazing deal it seems United is heading towards:

E175/190-E2/195-E2
A319/320/321?
B737/8/9/Max9/10
B777
B787
B797?

Didn’t Kirby pull some BS as AA where he “just” wanted a few more seats on the RJs? Well, here it is. Buy them then cry poor when they don’t make any financial sense. He’ll dangle some sort of carrot to unlock the full potential of these planes during negotiations. Why in the world would he just give us a NSNB order now when he can get something in return during contract negotiations?

If you just say NO to scope relief I will be forced to buy a small narrow body so I can configure these jets with 76 seats.

Your welcome.

He may or may not try to pull this. Which is a very good reason to not be thrilled about this. It’s a situation to be monitored.
