Default 757 replacement

According to United daily Kirby announced that beginning in 2020 the original United 757’s are going to be replaced with max 10’s with lie flat seats in first class. Now to just replace the 767-300 with 787’s and quiet the pay argument on another thread.

This thread reads like two farmers talking about pigs, ponies, and manure.

Who didn’t see this coming?
Sure it can replace the 757 on PS routes. It’ll probably do it decently too.
Now EWR-Europe/LIM & DEN-Hawaii: That’s the real announcement.
The CAL 757s will be around for a while - they are younger. At some point though, a decision will need to be made. They’ve got plenty of time too. Considering the 757 is common type with 767, there will be no rush to get rid of the plane/category.

What routes do SFO756 & LAX756 fly besides the Transcons? The category may persist for quite a while, but I can see a couple BES going away. Would a commuter be well served bidding into the seat to take advantage of a displacement in the not too distant future?

Think you’ll wait years before seeing a 756 displacement. That fleet gets all the attrition it needs to WB FO, NB CA.

I wonder if they will close the 756 domicile on the west coast if they lose the transcons?

Seems likely, IMHO, unless 767s migrate west from EWR when the 787-10s show up.

Of course, that all presumes the 767s even migrate and not simply start going away.

My point was: The remaining (ex-CAL) 752s will probably stay a while, due to the common type with the 767s (and 753s).
SFO/LAX 756? Who knows! They could let it wilt naturally. There will still be 41 752s. Only the 16 UA 752s are goners right?
