I will say this... Having owned the 850 prior to the DC ProX the winner is clearly the DC’s. I couldn’t get those 850’s off my head fast enough. It had pressure points and made my dome hurt. Then again I do have an odd shaped head.

DC’s are comfy but they do require batteries, which the 850’s don’t. One draw back. However as I said before most captains opt for the lunar lander technology headset. No ANR required.
Good luck trying to shame the Bus drivers into splurging on an ANR headset. 99% don’t use them

I have seen the 850’s on the Airbus and 757 , not so much on the 737..

And I am seeing more and more guys in the bus in EWR with ANR headsets , keep in mind this is a junior base with newer upgrades. Meaning newer generation which I do believe seeks ANR headsets more often.

It’s most of the old school cats that seem to care less about hearing I guess.

What ever floats your boat.

The longer you're married, the less you care about your hearing.

I find this single-sided ANR headset to be perfect for the Airbus right seat given few CAs use a headset. I can hear ATC clearly and it might save some hearing in one ear. I use the ear plug foamy underneath, adjust volume as needed, and wear it all flight long instead depending on the speaker. It's comfortable. No battery needed.

I have the single side ear 850 ANR headset. In retrospect should have just gotten the regular both ear headset. I can still hear the other pilot with the covered ear.

I have the follow on to the 850, the Airman 8. Most of the time I can have both ears covered and hear the other person just fine, but if they are a low talker I just uncover that ear. No biggie. I do get some hot spots on the top of my head, so I think another ANR headset may be better. I did have to send the first one I got back because of a wiring short, but they sent another one within a few days.
