Just a quick passing on of knowledge for those who aren’t schooled in the international ways :-)
The trend mentioned below is fairly uncommon in the United States, but the rule internationally. Most international airports the IATA identifier is derived from the name/acronym of the of the airport (or just dealers choice) and each letter of the ICAO identifier designates: region, country, state etc.
Treasure Cay in the Bahamas:
IATA: TCB
ICAO: MYAT
M = Mexico and western caribbean Y = Bahamas A =Abaco islands T = the airport itself (probably their discretion)
