It would be doable, but tough. Commuting anywhere in FL can go pretty senior. There are people that commute from TPA to SFO to fly the 777, so compared to that JAX to EWR won’t be as bad. Just be ready to use the commuter policy from time to time. My commute is all rj’s. I usually miss a trip 2-3 times a year, but I just give the two flights required by contract. Going home is when it hurts. Nothing like watching a regional new hire get a seat in the back while you go to a hotel and wait until the next day to play the game again. Also, being that you’re talking about EWR, any time they are having weather delays, your 50 seat rj to JAX will get canceled more often than not. Commuting stinks, but it beats the hell out of living in Jersey.

TPA hasn’t changed much, we did get an extra flight from Jetblue both directions starting March , (prob seasonal)
the only really Change from when this thread started is United did Start a flight attendant base , I think around 90 total . Orlando FA base has 120 ish .
I would imagine that helped keeping some of the senior mamas off the TPA-EWR/IAH commute .
either way , the commute is doable but is one of the worst in our system . Orlando is better simply due to there being more options and more airlines going to EWR and LGA .
pm me if you have any other questions, glad to help .

I did the commute back in 98-01 was not bad ORD based living in Orlando but at the time we were running 10 flights a day all mainline majority were 757's we had the noon ORD DC-10 flight that switched over to the 763, a few 727 and 733 flights. I could easily get to ORD on the 6am flight it was normally half full on a 752. if I waited for the 7am it was normally pretty full. These days I would never want to commute seeing how everything out of MCO is normally full on the 739, even the 753 that left 45 minutes later.

I’m an MCO-EWR commuter. It can be a pain sometimes but it’s doable. There’s over 20 flights a day between the two cities. United is putting 777s and 767s on the route too, which helps. Occasionally I end up buying a MyUADiscount ticket. $80 bucks sure beats loosing out on the pay for a 4 day trip.
JetBlue, Spirit and Frontier also fly the route.

Flying into JaX I almost always have a jumpseater . Biggest complaint those guys have is how many flights are RJ’s very little mainline out of there . Meanwhile Delta has 757’s running constantly

I have two good friends that do MCO/EWR, don’t mind it because there’s a couple options on airlines, and lots of frequency. One friend that does RSW or TPA, he’s in between the two, said it’s miserable, over full in busy season, and less frequency in off season.
