I had a Swiss Army expandable leather briefcase that easily fit two large log books and a portfolio for resumes and documents.

I was going to suggest a wheel barrow.

That's overkill. A Walmart bag should work, but be careful your logbook doesn't rip the bottom of the bag. That would look unprofessional.

Using a recycle bin may be looked upon as being green.

When I say plastic tub I don't mean this massive clear thing you can get at target. I keep mine at home in this plastic container so they avoid getting water damage in the event anything were to happen. I've seen some smaller all black containers that would look decent actually, think about half the size of a flight kit. I was more just curious as to what everyone else did. Thanks for the advice Airway, I ended up going that route.

The way you present yourself plays a big part in your interview, are you gonna come across as a bubba or a professional who can represent a 25 Billion dollar company. United is one of the premier flying job in the US, don’t blow it.

Aviationinterviews is pretty up to date. I'd recommend that website. If you have a UAL interview a lot of people including myself recommended Cage Marshall.

They actually didn't. All I was told was expect an email soon with potential class dates.

Ran into a pilot from Wheels Up (fractional) last week in RDU saying he was on his way to a UAL interview. Really nice guy. Hope he gets a CJO.

I'm former regional 121, but been corporate for about the last 3 years. Got a CJO on 3/12.

gobnu 03-15-2019 10:53 AM

CJO?

I've been stuck in the 135 world for a while, so pardon the ignorance, but what is CJO an acronym for? Training start date? Thanks!

I just received my CJO on 03/14! From looking at posts from the past few months, it’s been about two months from CJO to indoc, so I’m reasoning that I COULD be in class mid/late-May. Does UA slow down on training during the summer? I know things are fluid, I’m just trying to get a rough idea. It still doesn’t seem real to me to be here!

Congrats SDP08!!!! It's good to hear they're looking at us Corporate guys. My background is exactly the same. I check all the boxes, have attended the Hiring Expo, 2 CP Meet & Greet, 8 Internal recs, but still no invites . I wonder if there's anything else I can do besides updating the app frequently and checking the email daily...any tips and clues will be greatly appreciate it!

Thanks!! I basically had the same things including meet and greet as well as a fair. I wish I could tell you something different but I honestly have no clue. Just keep at it, network hard, and keep updating. I would have to think its just a matter of time for you!

Any rumors out there about May class dates yet? I'm a March CJO and hoping to get into the May class if they get through the rest of the pool first.

massgflight 03-18-2019 11:38 AM

Wondering about May classes too. I’m a feb 13 CJO. 2 other peeps from that day got the April 16 class. Any info is appreciated.
Thanks!

I've heard United will be not running any more vacancy bids until the fall. Will this mean no new hire classes since they are staffed with unfilled vacancies?

From the most recent System Schedule Committee meeting with the company.

The company stated with the Summer 2019 manpower plan in place there will be no more
vacancy bids for at least two to three months. These initial future vacancies will be primarily for
the Summer 2020 plan and associated Fall 2019 training load. Additionally, a portion of these
vacancy driven transition courses will be utilized this summer to help train new instructors. This
initial step is in preparation for the forecast fall increase in training demand. We expect to also
see further unfilled awards created for New Hires and Returning Pilots.

February and March NH/FR classes continued at 3 classes per month, however, were slightly
larger in size with 40 pilots per class, rather than the original plan of 30. In addition, the
company added two more classes in April, and will most likely have at least one or two classes
a month beyond that timeframe. Additional classes will likely be announced approaching each
bid period as the manpower need and/or training availability is determined.

The unfilled vacancies off of the most recent bid (184 total) will expire at the end of May. I would figure we will have a bid at the beginning of May to create unfilled vacancies that they can then use for the summer classes they are looking to create. Don't know how many that will be, but figure they are going to want to fill any of those classes that they can with New Hires rather than folks from the line.

Then prob another bid in the July timeframe (and continuing thereafter) to really start the training for the Fall and Winter

That is great info, and hoping that means they will still do classes in May and June. Curious if anyone out there would like to share the earliest CJO left that doesn't have a class date, I know a friend of mine at 2/20 that doesn't yet.

FYSA

Waiting for a slot to open with a class invite but no available dates. Hoping it's an Apr30 or early May opportunity. Can't wait to begin with my favorite #1 company. Let's hope this gravy train keeps pouring good flavor'd stuff.

Mil-Career Navy Fighters, 3000+ hours. 500+ arrestments, Safety off qual'd, Special Ops commander, Lots of combat time (no one cares).

Best of luck to all applicants. Keep the press on and press early!

United will take the top Airline slot in the coming decade. Bet on it!
